Day 18: Morning Yoga Challenge - Stress Melt

Day 18: Stress Melt - melt the stress away this morning with this 10 minute sequence. You will need a yoga block, however a couple of books or rolled up towel will work just fine. If using books, please don't use your favourite ones as I'd hate for you to crease the pages.

Yoga can be challenging, but should never be painful, so if you do feel any pain, please listen to your body and gently come out of the pose. It's up to the individual to assess whether they are ready for the class that they have chosen. Yoga with Kelly assumes no responsibility for injuries suffered while practicing these classes.

Yoga with Kelly - Welcome to my channel!

Hello and welcome to my channel!

I'm a yoga teacher in Bristol, UK and I teach Hatha yoga, Vinyasa, Yin yoga and yoga Nidra. I've also completed a few long distance, cross-country bike trips and ran a few marathons and ultra marathons.

Yoga has really helped bring balance to my life - I'm quite an active person and I find it hard to stay still. Yoga helps me to stay grounded and gives me focus.

It also helps me physically - from long distance running and cycling I have quite tight hamstrings, hip flexors, hip rotators and calves. Tightness in these areas can really start to impact on the lower back, creating lower back pain, and can impact on the alignment of the pelvis and hips. Yoga helps to lengthen these tight muscles, reducing the impact in the lower back region.

On my channel you'll find some videos from our long distance bike trips, as well as lots of different yoga classes, including some for cyclists, runners and to help with calm and focus. I also love to teach beginners yoga - most of my classes are designed with beginners in mind, however I'll also have a beginners playlist, and add at least one or two beginner classes each month.

I'll be adding a new yoga class every Wednesday - so please subscribe to my channel if you want to keep in the loop! And if you have anything you would love to see on my channel - please let me know.

Namaste!

Day 17: Morning Yoga Challenge - Core

Today we will spend 10 minutes working on our core. It's important to have a strong core as it can help protect our spine, help with good posture and help us hold poses safely.

Day 16: Morning Yoga Challenge - Slow Flow

Get rid of those morning kinks with this slow flow yoga sequence. We will hold each pose for about 5 breathes - giving you time to really get into the pose and feel the benefits.

For some people slow flow sequences can feel a bit like a meditative movement, providing a sense of grounding and calmness in the body.

Day 15: Morning Yoga Challenge - Twist & Rinse

Twists move the internal organs in the midsection (belly region) - I like to think of it as a massage for the internal organs in this region. This can help increase the rate of movement within the intestines and the stomach, as well as improve the functioning of the kidneys and liver. So by 'twist & rinse' we refer to the twisting action, and the 'rinse' or movement that follows.

With twisting poses it's important to twist from the midsection up - not only will this ensure you get all the benefits of the twist, but also helps to protect the spine.

Day 14: Morning Yoga Challenge - Foundation

Having a good solid foundation can not only help to prevent injury and discomfort, but also help to progress you further into a pose. So in this 10 minute class we will bring awareness to our foundation and how we are supporting our bodies.
