7 Day Core Strength Challenge Day 7: Pelvic Floor & Diaphragm





During day 7 we'll look at activating the pelvic floor and diaphragm muscles. These muscles are often forgotten about when we think of the core, but they both play an important role in making up the core muscles.

Why strengthen the core?
- The core stabilises and supports your body, protects your spine and helps reduce lower back pain
- A strong core can help improve balance and prevent falls
- Core strength can help mobility

During day 6 we'll work to strengthen and stretch some of the different hip flexors.

During day 5 we'll learn about and work on the abdominals, plus cover a little bit on the oblique muscles, (which we also worked on in day 1).

Wrist Friendly Yoga with a Chair





Join me for this wrist friendly yoga sequence, where we will be using a chair to help support us during the practice.

If you don't have a chair you can use yoga blocks or old books instead.

On Wednesday I will be posting a 'loosen the wrists' sequence, where we will take movements to help reduce wrist tension and increase synovial fluid to the wrists. This sequence can help with wrist mobility. Subscribe to my channel to be notified of when this class is available.

Yoga of the Joints: Yin Yoga Course for Beginners





This Yin Yoga Online Course for beginners is designed for complete beginners new to either yoga or Yin yoga. And for those students wanting to dive a little deeper into Yin yoga.

Why practice Yin yoga?

  1. Yin yoga calms the nervous system by engaging the parasympathetic nervous system. This switches off our ‘fight or flight’ response, reducing feelings of anxiousness, stress and overwhelm.
  2. Yin yoga can quieten a busy mind – the practice is a meditative practice and results in a lot of the same benefits as meditation. It is also a great way to build on or start a meditation practice.
  3. Yin yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the fascia, which supports the joints. This can help with joint health, mobility and range of motion – the reason Yin yoga often is referred to as ‘Yoga of the Joints’.
